The Purple Couch is on the move again. This time it is heading to Australia to be involved in the production of the pilot episode for a new series to be made down under. Under the production supervision of Cowbell Entertainment and using the expertise of Fotomedia, the Purple Couch pilot will be filmed at the beginning of June in anticipation that one of the Aussie networks will see the incredible power and impact that the Purple Couch brings to people.

With over 250 applicants for the position of host, the Australian director, Shayne Locke, has been totally flawed by the enthusiasm shown by potential hosts. In addition, the Australian production has had many volunteers for research, professional assessments and storytellers wanting to help make The Purple Couch Australia a success.

As the show progresses and hosts/guests are chosen, The Purple Couch diary will be updated so check back regularly. You can also follow the progress of The Purple Couch on twitter at www.twitter.com/thepurplecouch

The Purple Couch – Changing lives through the power of storytelling.

The day that Steve came and sat on the couch had not been a great day for us. We had difficulty getting started that day in Balboa Park, San Diego, and the day was quite hot. To make matters worse, most of the passers-by didn’t seem interested in sitting and sharing a story, so our “people wranglers” (our daughters and friends who work to rope people into talking with us) were feeling a bit defeated, too. Then came Steve…a handsome, middle-aged police officer who sat down and when asked to share a story about a defining moment in his life, knew immediately the story he wanted to tell. His storytelling was so clear, vivid, and compelling. We all felt like we were there with him when he heard the sad news about his father. The crew was speechless and most of us were crying. Okay, truth be told, we were ALL crying. We knew that no matter what happened for the rest of the day, the story we had just heard would be with us forever.

Steve recounts the story of getting word as a
young boy that his father, a marine hero fighting
in Vietnam was likely going to die after being
shot several times.

“…You knew what that meant…someone died…”
